Highest temperature 3D printers: every model by hotend maximum

Four shipping printers list a 370 °C hotend maximum, the highest in the database: the QIDI Q2C, Q2, Plus5 and Max4. The table sorts all 56 shipping printers by the maker's stated hotend maximum, hottest first, with the bed and chamber limits beside it.

The highest temperature 3D printers in the database reach 370 °C at the nozzle: the QIDI Q2C, QIDI Q2, QIDI Plus5 and QIDI Max4. No shipping printer lists a higher maximum. Thirteen others stop at 350 °C, so 17 of the 56 in the table reach at least 350 °C.

The most common maximum is 300 °C, listed for 30 of the 56. Four printers list 320 °C. Five fall below 300 °C: four Prusa Research printers at 290 °C (the Original Prusa MK4S, Original Prusa XL+, Prusa CORE One+ (Gen 2) and Prusa CORE One L+) and the Creality Ender-3 V3 SE at 260 °C.

This page counts 350 °C and up as high temperature. That covers the hottest filaments in Bambu Lab’s filament guide, PPS-CF and PPS-GF (polyphenylene sulfide filled with carbon or glass fiber), listed at 310 to 340 °C ±10 °C. A 300 °C hotend tops out at the guide’s range for fiber-filled nylon, 260 to 300 °C. The guide also requires a hardened steel nozzle for every fiber-filled material, so check the stock nozzle column or the hardened nozzle list.

The hotend is one of three temperature limits on a spec sheet, beside the bed and the chamber. Bambu Lab’s guide says ABS, ASA, polycarbonate and nylon “require higher heatbed and chamber temperatures to suppress warping and layer separation.” It recommends an enclosed printer for all four, plain or fiber-filled. The hotend temperature guide sets common filaments against these limits, and the chamber temperature list sorts enclosed printers by chamber rating.

What is the highest temperature 3D printer?

Four QIDI models share the database’s highest hotend maximum of 370 °C: the Q2C, Q2, Plus5 and Max4. All four have a 120 °C bed and CoreXY motion, where the bed travels only on the vertical axis. The Q2, Plus5 and Max4 add a 65 °C actively heated chamber. The Q2C is enclosed without a chamber heater.

The Q2C ($399) and Q2 ($499) share a 270 × 270 × 256 mm build volume. The Plus5 ($749) prints 320 × 320 × 300 mm and the Max4 ($1,149) 390 × 390 × 340 mm. All four ship with a bimetal nozzle, brass with a hardened steel tip.

The next figure down, 350 °C, is listed for 13 printers:

Ultra-high-temperature plastics need more than any printer here offers. 3DXTech’s datasheets give 380 to 400 °C at the nozzle for its THERMAX PEEK (polyether ether ketone) and 365 to 385 °C for its THERMAX PEI 9085 (polyetherimide, sold as ULTEM). Both call for a 130 to 140 °C bed, and the PEEK product page recommends a 70 to 140 °C heated chamber.

Only the bottom of the PEI range falls within the QIDI printers’ 370 °C. No shipping printer in the database lists a bed above 120 °C or a chamber above 65 °C.

What is the cheapest high temperature 3D printer?

At a $299 launch price, the open-frame Elegoo Centauri 2 is the cheapest shipping printer that reaches 350 °C. With an enclosure, the lowest launch price is $399, shared by the QIDI Q2C (370 °C) and Elegoo Centauri Carbon 2 (350 °C). With an actively heated chamber, it is $499, for the QIDI Q2.

Every shipping printer that reaches 350 °C and launched under $1,000, cheapest first:

  • $299: Elegoo Centauri 2, 350 °C, open frame, 110 °C bed.
  • $399: QIDI Q2C, 370 °C, enclosed, 120 °C bed.
  • $399: Elegoo Centauri Carbon 2, 350 °C, enclosed, 110 °C bed.
  • $499: QIDI Q2, 370 °C, 65 °C heated chamber.
  • $499: Sovol Zero, 350 °C, enclosed, 152.4 × 152.4 × 152.5 mm build volume.
  • $599: Anycubic Kobra 3 Max V2, 350 °C, open-frame bedslinger (the bed moves front to back), 90 °C bed.
  • $749: QIDI Plus5, 370 °C, 65 °C heated chamber.
  • $899: Anycubic Kobra S1 Max, 350 °C, 65 °C heated chamber.

Four more launched between $1,000 and $1,300: the FLSUN S1 Pro ($1,099), QIDI Max4 ($1,149), Bambu Lab H2S ($1,249) and Creality K2 Plus ($1,299). Bambu Lab’s H2D ($1,899), H2C ($2,399) and H2D Pro ($3,799) launched higher. The FLSUN V2 Max and V400 Max have no recorded launch price.

Large printers at 350 °C or more

For a large bed as well, 12 of the 17 printers at 350 °C or more have a bed at least 300 mm across on its shorter side. The Anycubic Kobra 3 Max V2 is the cheapest of them at $599, with a 420 × 420 × 500 mm build volume. With an enclosure, the QIDI Plus5 has the lowest launch price, $749 for 320 × 320 × 300 mm.

Three of the twelve are FLSUN deltas, which print inside a cylinder. The FLSUN V400 Max has the largest build volume, Ø 500 × 550 mm. The rest are the Anycubic Kobra S1 Max and QIDI Max4, the Creality K2 Plus, the FLSUN S1 Pro and V2 Max and all four Bambu Lab H2 models. The large enclosed printer list sorts every enclosed printer with a bed of 300 mm or more by build volume.

Which enclosed 3D printers reach 350 °C?

Thirteen of the 25 enclosed shipping printers reach 350 °C or more. Nine have an actively heated chamber: three QIDI models at 370 °C, four Bambu Lab H2 models, the Anycubic Kobra S1 Max and the Creality K2 Plus. The four passive ones are the QIDI Q2C, Elegoo Centauri Carbon 2, Sovol Zero and FLSUN S1 Pro.

The three QIDI models are the Q2, Plus5 and Max4. The Bambu Lab models are the H2S, H2D, H2C and H2D Pro. All nine heated chambers are rated 65 °C, except the Creality K2 Plus at 60 °C, and each sits over a 120 °C bed.

These nine launched from $499 for the QIDI Q2 to $3,799 for the Bambu Lab H2D Pro. Of the four passive enclosures, only the FLSUN S1 Pro states a chamber figure, 50 °C. The other three give none.

The four open-frame printers at 350 °C are the Elegoo Centauri 2, Anycubic Kobra 3 Max V2, FLSUN V2 Max and FLSUN V400 Max. They reach the same nozzle temperatures without the enclosure that Bambu Lab’s guide recommends for ABS, ASA, polycarbonate and nylon. The enclosed printer list covers every enclosed model, and the heated chamber guide explains what an active chamber heater changes.

Where do the figures come from?

Each row comes from that printer’s record, which cites the maker’s spec page and carries a last-verified date. Hotend figures are the makers’ stated maxima, and launch prices cover the base configuration in US dollars. The table holds shipping printers only, so it leaves out discontinued models such as the QIDI Plus4, also listed at 370 °C.

The methodology page sets out the sourcing rules.
