3D printer price drops: official price cuts after launch

Just over half do: eight of the 15 printers checked had their official US list price cut below launch. For the six with a dated first cut, it came a median 7.5 months after release and was a median $100, or 15.5%. A check of the makers’ own US stores on 27 October 2026 found all nine printers sampled priced below launch, by a median 26%.

The tables use the base printer on the maker’s US store. A cut counts when the maker announced it or when the regular price fell and held. Temporary sales are left out; their timing and depth are in the Black Friday price guide. Bambu Lab’s list price here is its store’s “Typical Price”: the median price it charged on at least 7 of the last 90 days outside promotions.

Do 3D printers drop in price after launch?

Often, but not always. Eight of the 15 printers in the table below had their official US list price cut below launch, four of them within nine months. The other seven kept or raised their list price. Bambu Lab, Prusa and Sovol each raised at least one printer’s price after launch, Bambu Lab during the 2025 US tariff increases.

Bambu Lab’s US prices rose about 3% by 5 February 2025, after a 10% US tariff on Chinese goods, and again in April 2025. The company cut them on 15 May 2025, citing lower tariffs. Prusa’s US prices have included the 15% US import duty since 7 August 2025.

How long after launch do 3D printers drop in price?

A median 7.5 months after release, for the six printers with a dated first cut. The Original Prusa MK4S was cut after 3 months and the Bambu Lab A1 mini after 5; the Original Prusa i3 MK3S+ waited 28 months. The first cut was a median $100, or 15.5% of the launch price.

The six first cuts, by months after release:

• 3 months: Original Prusa MK4S, $1,099 to $999 on 29 November 2024, announced as a Black Friday price and kept afterward.
• 5 months: Bambu Lab A1 mini, $299 to $249 on 26 March 2024.
• 6 months: Bambu Lab P1P, $699 to $599 on 26 June 2023, 17 days before the Bambu Lab P1S went on sale.
• 9 months: QIDI X-Max 3, regular price $1,399 to $1,099 between 3 October and 15 December 2023.
• 27 months: Bambu Lab P1S, $699 to $549 by 20 October 2025, as its successor Bambu Lab P2S arrived.
• 28 months: Original Prusa i3 MK3S+, to $899 on 29 March 2023, the day Prusa launched the Original Prusa MK4.

Three of the six came alongside a newer sibling’s launch. The Bambu Lab A1 and H2D are also below launch now, but no dated report or archive shows when their list prices fell.

Which 3D printers have had official price cuts?

Eight of the 15 printers checked: the Bambu Lab P1P, A1 mini, P1S, A1 and H2D, the Original Prusa i3 MK3S+ and MK4S, and the QIDI X-Max 3. By 27 October 2026 the Bambu Lab P1S had the deepest cut: a Typical Price of $399, 43% below its $699 launch price.

By maker:

• Bambu Lab announced the P1P cut and the May 2025 reduction.
• Prusa announced its cuts on its blog. It lowered the MK4S in November 2024 and again in September 2025, when it called the $70 reduction permanent. The MK4S was back at $999 on 27 October 2026, with import duties in the price.
• QIDI cut the X-Max 3’s regular price to $1,099 and still sold it at $899 in September 2026, after it was discontinued.
• Creality, Sovol and Anycubic made no list-price cut below launch that this check found. Their stores show a struck-through regular price beside a lower selling price, and the struck price stayed at or above launch. The Creality K1 Max showed a struck $899 on 20 December 2024 and 27 October 2026 but sold for $679 and $549.

The Anycubic Kobra 3 kept a $369 regular price while its store price fell from $339 in July 2024 to $199 by 3 August 2025. That came after the Anycubic Kobra 3 V2 launched at $349 in June 2025. The listing was marked Clearance at $199 in November 2025, listed its last units at $169 in December and was sold out by March 2026. How do launch prices compare to street prices months later?

Street prices on the makers’ own US stores were below launch for all nine printers checked on 27 October 2026, by a median 26%. The gap ran from 4% for the Sovol SV08 to 50% for the Bambu Lab P1S, though all four Bambu Lab prices that day were Black Friday sales.

Outside Bambu Lab’s sale, its Typical Prices were 18% to 43% below launch. Creality’s listing at the K1 Max address is now titled K1 Max 2025, and Elegoo’s $239 is for the Type-C version of the Neptune 4 Pro.

QIDI’s store prices started below the regular price on day one. It listed the QIDI Q1 Pro at $469 against $599 on its launch day, 20 March 2024, and the QIDI X-Max 3 at $999 against $1,399 in March 2023. What is the Bambu Lab P1S Combo’s price history?

The Bambu Lab P1S Combo, the P1S with an AMS (Automatic Material System), launched at $949 in July 2023. During the 2025 US tariff increases it reached $1,049, then fell to $899 on 15 May 2025. On 27 October 2026 Bambu Lab’s US store showed a Typical Price of $549 and a Black Friday price of $479.

The store also sells a P1S AMS 2 Pro Combo at a Typical Price of $579 ($509 on sale). At Typical Prices the AMS Combo costs $150 more than the P1S alone ($399), down from $250 at launch. Combo prices for other printers are in the combo price guide.

Is there a 3D printer price tracker?

This site does not run a live price tracker. Each printer page records the US launch price, and this page lists dated official changes for 15 printers. For a store’s past prices, the Internet Archive’s Wayback Machine keeps dated copies of most makers’ product pages.

The Wayback Machine does not serve copies of Bambu Lab’s store, which it reported as a blocked site on 27 October 2026. Instead, that store shows its own 90-day Typical Price. On other stores, read the selling price rather than the struck-through regular price.
