Four Bambu Lab 3D printers take a laser engraver, all from the H2 series. The Bambu Lab H2D, H2C and H2D Pro accept a 10 W or 40 W laser module; the Bambu Lab H2S accepts the 10 W module only. No X1, P1, P2S, A1 or X2D model has a laser option.

Which Bambu Lab printers have a laser engraver?

Four do, all in the H2 series. The Bambu Lab H2D and H2C are sold as a Laser Full Combo with a 10 W or a 40 W module. The H2S Laser Full Combo comes with the 10 W module only. The H2D Pro ships without a laser and takes either module through an upgrade kit.

No other Bambu Lab line has a laser. Bambu Lab’s Laser Upgrade Kit page says the 10 W and 40 W modules “are only compatible with the H2 Laser version”. The X1, P1, P2S, A1 and X2D printers take neither module. No kit exists for them.

Does the Bambu Lab H2S support the 40W laser module?

No. The Bambu Lab H2S supports only the 10 W laser module. Bambu Lab’s wiki says a 40 W module on the H2S toolhead would interfere with the air duct and cable chain. The module is also wider than the toolhead, so it collides during XY homing. Every laser H2S therefore runs the 10 W module.

For the 40 W module’s thicker cuts, the frame has to be a Bambu Lab H2D, H2C or H2D Pro.

What comes in a Bambu Lab Laser Full Combo?

The Laser Edition printer, an AMS 2 Pro (Bambu Lab’s Automatic Material System filament unit) and the full laser and cutting kit. Bambu Lab’s store lists these contents for the H2S and H2D Laser Full Combo:

  • the Laser Edition printer, with laser-protected windows and top cover
  • an AMS 2 Pro
  • the laser module: 10 W on the H2S, 10 W or 40 W on the H2D and H2C, chosen at order
  • the cutting module with pen holder
  • a laser platform and a cutting platform
  • a ventilation pipe for the fumes
  • an emergency stop button
  • sample laser and cutting materials

The H2C Laser Full Combo lists the same printer, AMS 2 Pro, modules, platforms and emergency stop button, plus the H2C’s eight hotends.

Launch prices in the US: the Bambu Lab H2S Laser Full Combo (10 W) was $2,099, per Tom’s Hardware and 3D Printing Industry. 3D Printing Industry listed the Bambu Lab H2D Laser Full Combo at $2,799 with the 10 W module and $3,499 with the 40 W. For the Bambu Lab H2C it reported European prices only: €2,799 (10 W) and €3,349 (40 W). The H2D Pro has no Laser Full Combo.

The H2D laser vs printer-only guide covers what the combo adds over the printer alone.

Can you add a laser to a Bambu Lab printer you already own?

Yes, if it is an H2. Bambu Lab’s Laser Upgrade Kit comes in an H2D/H2C version (10 W or 40 W module) and an H2S version (10 W only). Each kit holds the laser module, safety windows, a laser platform, a BirdsEye camera, an air pump, the ventilation pipe and an emergency stop button. It has no cutting module.

  • Bambu Lab H2D Pro: Bambu Lab’s FAQ says it ships as the non-laser version and is upgraded by “the H2D method”.
  • Kit vs factory combo: the kit’s air pump mounts outside the printer and connects by an air tube. The Laser Edition has the pump built in. Bambu Lab says an upgraded H2D or H2S has the same laser functions and performance as the Laser Edition.
  • Any other Bambu Lab printer: no kit exists.

Bambu Lab rates the laser module as Class 4 and the closed printer as a Class 1 laser product when its protection is complete and working. The desktop laser safety guide explains what each class means.

What differs when lasering on each model?

The module you can fit and the area it reaches. Bambu Lab’s wiki gives these maximum laser processing areas:

  • Bambu Lab H2D and H2C, 10 W module: 310 × 270 mm, with up to 280 mm processing height
  • Bambu Lab H2D and H2C, 40 W module: 310 × 250 mm, with up to 265 mm processing height
  • Bambu Lab H2S, 10 W module: 310 × 260 mm
  • Bambu Lab H2D Pro: not listed separately; Bambu Lab upgrades it by the H2D method

The blade cutting area differs too: 300 × 285 mm on the H2D and H2C, and 297.5 × 300 mm on the H2S. On the H2S the X range shrinks slightly to clear the filament cutter.

Power sets cutting depth and speed. Bambu Lab’s store lists a maximum single-pass cut of 6 mm basswood plywood with the 10 W module and 15 mm with the 40 W. For black acrylic the figures are 3 mm and 15 mm. Maximum engraving speed is 400 mm/s (10 W) against 1,000 mm/s (40 W). The 10 W vs 40 W laser module guide breaks this down by material.

How else do the H2S, H2D, H2C and H2D Pro differ?

Nozzle count, build volume and price. All four are enclosed CoreXY printers (the bed moves only in Z) with a 350 °C hotend, a 65 °C heated chamber, a 120 °C bed and the same 1,000 mm/s speed claim. The spec table holds the full records.

  • Bambu Lab H2S: one nozzle and the largest build volume of the four, 340 × 320 × 340 mm. $1,249 at launch without an AMS.
  • Bambu Lab H2D: two nozzles, 325 × 320 × 325 mm. $1,899 at launch without an AMS.
  • Bambu Lab H2C: two nozzles; the right one is a Vortek changer that swaps among six induction hotends. Its record lists the right nozzle’s 305 × 320 × 325 mm volume. Bambu Lab gives 330 × 320 mm for the whole bed. $2,399 at launch with an AMS 2 Pro.
  • Bambu Lab H2D Pro: Bambu Lab’s enterprise version of the H2D, with a tungsten carbide nozzle, Ethernet, and an AMS 2 Pro and AMS HT in the box. $3,799 at launch, sold through authorized resellers.
