The Sovol SV08 Max is the biggest shipping CoreXY printer in the database. It builds 500 × 500 × 500 mm (19.7 in per side, 125 liters), has an open frame and launched at $1,299. The table lists all 15 shipping CoreXY printers in the database with a bed of at least 300 mm (11.8 in) on both sides, largest volume first.

Specs are the makers’ published figures. Speeds are maker claims, and a dash means the maker publishes no figure.

What is the biggest CoreXY 3D printer?

Of the printers in the database, the Sovol SV08 Max has the largest CoreXY build volume: 500 × 500 × 500 mm (125 liters). Next is the Creality Ender-5 Max at 400 mm per side (64 liters), about half. The biggest enclosed one is the QIDI Max4, 390 × 390 × 340 mm with a heated chamber.

Which large-format 3D printers are CoreXY?

Fifteen shipping printers in the database pair CoreXY motion with a bed of at least 300 mm per side. Besides the Sovol SV08 Max, Creality Ender-5 Max and QIDI Max4, they include the Original Prusa XL+, Creality K2 Plus, Sovol SV08 and Bambu Lab H2D. Launch prices run from $549 to $3,799.

The filter leaves out large printers with other layouts. These include bedslingers such as the Anycubic Kobra 3 Max (420 × 420 × 500 mm) and the Cartesian Elegoo OrangeStorm Giga (800 × 800 × 1000 mm, the largest printer in the database). It also excludes delta printers such as the FLSUN V400 Max, and discontinued CoreXY models such as the Original Prusa XL. The large-format printers list covers every layout.

Why are large-format 3D printers often CoreXY?

On a CoreXY printer the toolhead moves in X and Y and the bed moves only in Z, so a large, heavy bed never travels back and forth. Prusa Research describes its XL+ as “a rigid CoreXY frame” that “moves the light printhead instead of the heavy bed.” With no bed travel, the frame needs no extra depth.

The resonance guide for Klipper (open-source printer firmware) says that as filament builds up on a bedslinger’s moving bed, “the mass of the bed increases and the resonance frequency will decrease.” On footprint, Prusa says its CoreXY CORE One is “30% smaller than the MK4S” (a bedslinger) yet has “a 30% larger build volume.” Large bedslingers are still sold, such as the Kobra 3 Max. The motion systems guide explains each layout, and the build volume topic covers sizing.
