Bambu Lab P1S vs X1-Carbon: spec comparison

The Bambu Lab P1S and the Bambu Lab X1-Carbon are enclosed CoreXY printers, which move the toolhead in X and Y and the bed only in Z. Both list a 256 × 256 × 256 mm build volume, a 300 °C hotend and the same claimed 500 mm/s top speed, 20,000 mm/s² acceleration and 32 mm³/s flow. The spec sheets differ on bed temperature, stock nozzle material, sensors and price.

What is the difference between the Bambu Lab P1S and X1-Carbon?

The Bambu Lab X1-Carbon lists a 120 °C bed to the Bambu Lab P1S’s 100 °C and ships with a hardened steel nozzle, not stainless steel. Only the X1-Carbon spec sheet lists a lidar sensor, camera-based AI failure detection and a 60 °C chamber temperature. The P1S launched at $699 and the X1-Carbon at $1,199.

Neither printer has a chamber heater, so the bed and hotend warm the enclosed air. The X1-Carbon’s 60 °C figure is the temperature Bambu Lab says its enclosure reaches. No chamber figure is published for the P1S.

Both accept Bambu Lab’s optional AMS (Automatic Material System), which holds four spools per unit. Up to four units connect to one printer, for 16 spools.

Do the Bambu Lab P1S and X1-Carbon have the same speed?

Yes, on paper. The Bambu Lab P1S and the Bambu Lab X1-Carbon both list a 500 mm/s maximum toolhead speed, 20,000 mm/s² acceleration and 32 mm³/s volumetric flow (the plastic the hotend can melt per second). These are manufacturer claims; real print time also depends on the part, the material’s flow limit and the slicer profile.

Which materials does the spec sheet difference affect?

The Bambu Lab X1-Carbon’s hardened steel nozzle and 120 °C bed are the spec lines that affect material choice against the Bambu Lab P1S. Carbon-fiber and glass-fiber filled filaments wear stainless steel nozzles faster than hardened steel. A filament whose maker recommends a bed above 100 °C is outside the P1S’s listed range.

The nozzle line describes each printer as shipped, not what it can be fitted with later.

Are the Bambu Lab P1S and X1-Carbon still sold?

The Bambu Lab P1S is still sold as a current model. The Bambu Lab X1-Carbon is discontinued: Bambu Lab announced the end of the X1 series, and the X1-Carbon reached end of life on March 31, 2026. New units now depend on remaining retail stock.
